Randy Orton Reveals Why He Attacked Jeff Hardy; Trashes Part-Time Stars, Bullet Club, ‘Indie Darlings’ & More
13-time world champion Randy Orton made his surprise return earlier this month at WWE Extreme Rules, inexplicably attacking Jeff Hardy just moments after the “Charismatic Enigma” had lost the WWE United States Championship.
“The Viper” didn’t stop there, showing up on Smackdown Live last Tuesday night and delivering an even more vicious beatdown to Hardy, through him over the announce table and nearly ripping his ear in a grotesque display. Clearly Orton has a problem with his 40-year-old colleague, but until now the WWE Universe could only speculate over what his issue might be.

This week, Orton kicked off the blue brand’s night with an in-ring promo, making it very clear that he blames the FANS for his recent actions. “The Viper” stated that for years he was known as the “Legend Killer” of professional wrestling, but he’s realized that entitled fans who only care about “indie darlings” and guys who throw their bodies off 30-foot structures are the “real Legend Killers”.
Orton called himself the “one constant” of the WWE roster, but felt that he didn’t get any respect because he doesn’t paint his face, or change the color of his merch “every other month”, or that he isn’t a part-time star that only shows up for WrestleMania. He also mocked stars who steel “sweet” hand gestures and competed in bingo halls, somehow managing to trash Jeff Hardy, John Cena, Brock Lesnar (and other part-time stars), and the entire Bullet Club in one short promo. Quite frankly, the future WWE Hall of Famer just isn’t ready to have his own legend put to rest quite yet.
