FOX Reportedly Wants Ronda Rousey On Smackdown Live

Ronda Rousey is one of the most popular Superstars in WWE today. She’s also the current Raw Women’s champion and a featured attraction of the red brand. But what are the chances that The Baddest Woman on the Planet will jump brands in 2019?

Wrestling Inc is reporting that FOX wants Rousey to join SmackDown Live next year. The blue brand is making the move to its new home and apparently, the network wants Rousey as part of the package. WWE fans are surely not surprised by this. FOX reportedly wants the program to take a more serious tone, similar to other professional sporting events.

Because of that, this may be a perfect fit for Rousey, especially since her character has been portrayed as a legitimate fighter since her debut. WWE has embraced Rousey’s MMA past and used it as a central part of her gimmick. Add to this the fact that Ronda has mainstream appeal and a brand switch may be an ideal move for everyone involved.

Ronda’s recent issues with Charlotte Flair has led the Raw Women’s champion down a very interesting path. The Survivor Series crowd actually cheered when Flair assaulted Ronda at the end of their match. But next to current SmackDown Women’s champion Becky Lynch, Charlotte is typically booed.

Many fans feel it’s not yet over between these three stars. WWE has not moved forward with another match for Rousey and Flair but it will likely happen at some point. The WWE faithful is surely still waiting for Ronda versus Becky and that match may come as well eventually. It’s unknown where this storyline will take Ronda and whether or not it will lead to her joining SmackDown in 2019.
