Kendall Jenner Says She’s ‘Cried Endlessly for Days’ Over Hurtful Social Media Comments

Kendall Jenner has been very candid when it comes to talking about social media pressures and unrealistic standards of beauty. The model recently opened up about her battle with acne and the toll it took on her self esteem. And now, she’s revealing more about her skincare struggle in Allure magazine’s March cover interview.

In the new interview, Jenner discussed the journey she’s had with battling acne (it started at age 14) and the social media reactions to her blemishes, which were visible at the 2018 Golden Globes.

“I was feeling good about myself, and then when people say mean things I’m like, ‘I know I have a zit. I know I’m breaking out. You guys don’t have to keep pointing it out. I obviously see that, but let me live,’” she said in response to the harsh criticism of her look on social media.

“I have cried endlessly for days because of things people have said to me, and I’ve had to become stronger through it,” she revealed. “I mean, don’t get me wrong: I am not superhuman. I definitely feel, and the things people say online are very hurtful. You also just have to live your life and not pay attention to it. I think it can get pretty unhealthy if you really are deep in it and paying attention to it all the time. I think that that’s what can really mess you up.”

To deal with the stress of social media and her demanding work schedule, Jenner turned to meditation two years ago, after being “skeptical” about the process. She consulted a teacher to learn Transcendental Meditation and immediately saw a difference in her mental health.

“I do still have moments of panic attacks and anxiety, but it was really, really bad,” Jenner shared. “I mean, it would wake me out of my sleep in full panic, so much so that I thought I had heart issues. I went to all these doctors ’cause I thought something was really wrong with me. I didn’t know what was happening. But then I figured it all out. I haven’t had one (panic attack) in at least a year. Knock on wood and I have been pretty good and pretty steady.”

Jenner, who posed with blue eyebrows for her cover and modeled in summery looks on-location at the beach, also opened up the interview about famous family. When asked who had the best skin care routine, she declared herself the best out of the whole family. “I honestly might need to take credit for this one, only because they haven’t really struggled with breakouts,” she boasted.

And when asked if she’d ever copy her mom Kris Jenner‘s iconic short haircut, she couldn’t see herself doing it any time soon. “Oh my god. I don’t know. I might, one day. The only reason I haven’t thus far is because I feel like I look too much like her already. I’ve tried on wigs before and scared myself ’cause I really look like her.”

As for her every day beauty routine, Jenner says she swears by Armani Face Fabric for her foundation. “It’s a little tube and it’s so light. You feel like you can breathe and like you don’t even have anything on. Most of the time when I’m wearing it people are like, ‘Are you even wearing makeup?’ It’s really great.”

She also loved her new purchase, an Everlasting Comforts humidifier with an essential-oil tray. “I liked it because it looked cool, honestly, and it had a good review on Amazon. I’ll throw lavender or eucalyptus in it, then I’ll sit and just chill out from the day with my crystals.”

The March issue of Allure hits newsstands on February 19.
