SD Dark Main Event, Former Wrestler Training at PC, Ali Returns

As reported earlier, SmackDown kicked off with a match that was only shown in front of the crowd in attendance, but that was not the only match that the fans in attendance got to see last night. It has also been reported that there was a dark main event match between former world champions Randy Orton and AJ Styles. The match saw Styles defeat Orton to send the crowd in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania home happy. This match is an interesting choice to put in the dark main event slot as a singles match between Orton and Styles has been heavily rumored for WrestleMania 35 over the past couple of weeks. That match has yet to be announced for the event, but that may be about to change after Fastlane this Sunday.
WWE occasionally invites some wrestlers and industry experts outside of the company to the WWE Performance Center to serve as guest trainers. However, the latest guest trainer is a name that fans may or may not recognize. Pro Wrestling Sheet says that former WWE Superstar Kizarny is working at the Orlando facility this week to show the aspiring NXT stars the ropes. Kizarny competed on the SmackDown roster a couple of times back in 2009, but he was released only a few weeks after making his debut on the show. Kizarny also competes as Sinn Bodhi on the independent circuit. His stint at the PC this week marks the 45-year-old wrestler’s first time working with the company in nearly ten years.
During last night’s episode of SmackDown, Mustafa Ali made his official return to television. Following an injury which took him out of the WWE title picture, the former 205 Live competitor made his in-ring return during some WWE live events over the weekend. Ali returned to save Kevin Owens before he was nearly put through a table by Daniel Bryan and Rowan. Afterwards, WWE caught up with Ali for a backstage interview and asked him about making his comeback. Ali seems to intend to reenter the world title picture, but Kevin Owens and Kofi Kingston both want that shot as well. Now that Ali is back, it should be intriguing to see if he ends up appearing at Fastlane this Sunday night or at WrestleMania 35 in April.
