VIDEO: Denver's 'Great Mattress Migration Of 2019'
DENVER, CO — Colorado is known for its herds of elk, bison, buffalo and deer … but mattresses? A Denver resident posted a video titled, “The Great Mattress Migration of 2019,” which shows many air mattresses tumbling in the wind through the city’s Stapleton neighborhood.
The tumbling mattresses were set up for an outdoor movie night Saturday, but the wind had other plans — it sent the mattresses hurling through Runway 35 Park on the site of Denver’s former Stapleton Airport.
“So majestic,” said Stapleton resident Robb Manes, who recorded the video.
“We were hanging out at the pool when, suddenly, a mattress flew into the fenced-in area,” Manes wrote on his video post. “When a second and third one came in, we stood up, I grabbed my camera, and this is what we saw.”
Manes noted that storms crashing parties is a pretty standard occurrence in Denver.
“Apparently there was a ‘Movie Night Under The Stars’ and in Denver, Colorado fashion, a storm blew in, and this is the result,” he wrote.
The mattresses were set up for the outdoor movie event The Bed Cinema.
