New French Cafe Opens Along Historic Southwest Riverside County Street

LAKE ELSINORE, CA — A Google search shows Southwest Riverside County lacks French restaurants, so Le Rendez-Vous Cafe is attempting to make a mark in the area.

Recently opened along Lake Elsinore’s historic Main Street, the restaurant is dubbed by city officials as the region’s first sit-down French eatery.

The contemporary French/Creole cafe led by executive chef and owner Manuel Gamboa features favorite dishes like eggs Benedict, French toast, Monte Cristo sandwich, French onion soup, chicken pot pie, meatloaf bordelaise and crème brûlée.

Gamboa also prides himself on offering patrons vegetarian, gluten-free and paleo options.

“What distinguishes us from other restaurants is our quality, signature dishes, and exceptional service,” Gamboa said. “All our ingredients are high-quality and every dish is made to order. We are constantly striving to come up with creative dishes you cannot get anywhere else. Our customers know when they come in they will be treated like family.”

Gamboa was head chef at Le Rendez-Vous’s Colton location, which shuttered this year. It was a highly popular hidden gem, according to online reviews.

“Wow. What a great and pleasant surprise,” one reviewer wrote. “The food, Chicken coq de vin, and Chili salmon were just fantastic. Very high quality food. The panko shrimp was tremendous and the cheesecake to die for. Shocking that the French vibe and quality come through so powerfully in a converted diner.”

Gamboa and city officials hope the new Lake Elsinore location will be just as impressive, and the site has a leg up on the Colton spot.

Lake Elsinore’s Main Street is the heartbeat of the city’s historic downtown, which dates back to 1888. Le Rendez-Vous Cafe is situated among vintage street lamps, antique shops, novelty stores, a museum, and, of course, one-of-a-kind restaurants. The experience can transport visitors back in time.

“We are excited to support and offer unique dining options like Chef Gamboa’s here in Lake Elsinore,” Mayor Steve Manos said. “The city’s economic development team is working to encourage diverse dining options to our city, especially in our downtown on Main Street, and Lake Elsinore is beginning to be recognized for its budding culinary scene in the city.”

Le Rendez-Vous Cafe is anticipating its beer and wine license next month, so the restaurant’s official grand opening celebration is scheduled at that time. No official date was released.
