Katie Nolan said she was Rose Lavelle to sneak into ESPYs party

Getting past the velvet rope took a bit of brainstorming for Katie Nolan.

Recalling her experience at this month’s ESPYs, Nolan revealed on her “Sports?” podcast that ESPN reporter Dianna Russini had helped her gain entry into LeBron James’ Undisputed exclusive afterparty by having her claim to be World Cup champion Rose Lavelle, who left the bash as Nolan and her pals waited outside.

“The woman has her little iPad with the list on it. Again, to reiterate: Cassidy [Hubbarth] and Dianna, on that list. Me, no, not at all. Never even sniffed it,” Nolan said, per The Big Lead. “So Cassidy goes first, she’s like, ‘Cassidy Hubbarth,’ the woman looks, ‘You’re all set.’ Diana. Dianna Russini. You’re all set.”

When it was Nolan’s turn to state her name, Russini stepped in.

“I’m like sweating, I’m immediately aware of what my hands are doing. Dianna goes, ‘It’s L-A-V, Rose — how do you spell your last name?’ And I was like, ‘E-L-L-E,’ and she goes, ‘You’re all set. Have a great time, ladies,’” Nolan said.

Nolan also shared that she had briefly met Lavelle before claiming to be one of the stars of the US Women’s National Soccer Team. She also got to hang with co-captain Megan Rapinoe and her girlfriend, Sue Bird, during the ESPYs.
