Johnny Manziel — who has had stints in the NFL, CFL, and the AAF — is planning his future in another league: the XFL.

The quarterback, known more for his notable moments off the field, told The Houston Chronicle on Saturday he would like to be reunited with June Jones, who is the head coach and general manager of Houston’s XFL team.

Manziel played for Jones while he was in the CFL last season at Hamilton before being traded to Montreal when he was unable to beat out starter Jeremiah Masoli.

“I enjoyed every single day I had with coach Jones,” Manziel said at TriStar’s Show at Reliant Arena. “Being in his offense was the best part of each day. I know he’s going to be successful wherever he’s coaching.”

Manziel, 26, said it would mean a lot for him to play in Houston.

“It’s a stone’s throw from College Station,” he said, referring to the geographical closeness to Texas A&M where he had his best on-field football moments. “A lot of Aggies drove from Houston to College Station. Houston’s a great city that’ll always be near and dear to me.”

The feeling could be mutual for Jones.

“I had Johnny in Hamilton,” Jones recently told CBS Sports. “I enjoyed the five or six weeks [with him]. … He played very good for me, actually. Johnny is an interesting guy. He’s competitive. He’s proven that he has won. He’s just been through a lot in the last three or four years. That’s kind of a league decision there, but definitely, I assume that he’ll be in the draft pool. I assume that.”
