Trump berates NASA for not talking about mission to Mars
President Trump on Friday scolded NASA for focusing on a return trip to the moon and insisted that Mars was a better destination.

“For all of the money we are spending, NASA should NOT be talking about going to the Moon — We did that 50 years ago. They should be focused on the much bigger things we are doing, including Mars (of which the Moon is a part), Defense and Science!” the commander in chief tweeted from aboard Air Force One while returning from D-Day commemoration in France.
Last month, Trump said during an appearance with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe that Japan and the US would launch a mission to Mars “very soon.”
“We’ll be going to the moon,” he said then. “We’ll be going to Mars very soon.”
NASA is operating under a plan that could launch a manned craft to Mars by 2033, and Trump himself a month ago sounded more gung-ho about another moon landing than a trip to Mars.
“Under my Administration, we are restoring @NASA to greatness and we are going back to the Moon, then Mars. I am updating my budget to include an additional $1.6 billion so that we can return to Space in a BIG WAY!” he tweeted.
