Yankees gushing over Aaron Judge’s slow and steady progress
Aaron Judge went through several agility drills and practiced getting jumps on imaginary fly balls Tuesday afternoon at Yankee Stadium.
Afterward, Judge said everything went well, but he didn’t know when he would be able to start hitting.
Manager Aaron Boone, however, painted a picture of the injured right fielder making progress.
“He is doing really well and actually hit off a tee [Monday]. He is doing some dry swings, and obviously you see him moving and throwing,’’ Boone said before the Yankees hosted the Padres in the second of three games. “Everything is going well and he is not having any issues.’’
Judge has been on the injured list since April 21 with a strained left oblique muscle. And though the Yankees certainly miss him, they were 25-8 without Judge entering Tuesday because others have supplied the power Judge took with him to the IL.

While the Yankees haven’t divulged a date for Judge’s return, Boone said the progress might be slow, but it is steady.
“Now he continues to build up that slow, steady progress from a hitting standpoint, which obviously is the biggest thing with that injury,’’ said Boone, who eventually envisions Judge moving from hitting off a tee to batting practice. “He has responded really well to everything and is in a really good place right now as he really starts to ramp up baseball activities.’’
