Smackdown Live came and went as we head into this weekend’s WWE Fastlane pay-per-view, the final pitstop before WrestleMania. They essentially gave away the main event, sans John Cena, by booking a Fatal 5-Way on live, free television that got significant time and ended in a clean finish, albeit one that played up a key storyline. The general feeling on social media after the show was, “why do I need to watch Fastlane now?” and that’s a very good question. They also realized five days before the PPV that there were only four matches on the entire card, so at the 11th hour they added a random Nakamura vs. Rusev match, which isn’t good for anyone because the crowd will want to cheer for Rusev, and an even more random match between Naomi and Natalya. It looks like somebody at AXS screwed up, as the original article heralding the return of WarGames in Fall 2018 turned out to be nothing more than an error. WarGames was brought back for NXT Takeover during Survivor Series weekend last year, and after AXS released its initial report there was speculation that it would become an annual spectacle like Hell in a Cell and Elimination Chamber, but exclusive to the NXT brand. It’s possible WWE may opt to go that route, but that’s a conversation still months away from happening. (DETAILS)

After suffering an undisclosed knee injury, Bobby Fish will reportedly NOT be working tonight’s NXT television tapings. He’s currently one half of the NXT Tag Team Champions so that poses a significant challenge to match card for WrestleMania weekend, where he and Kyle O’Reilly were set to defend the titles against whoever wins the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.
