$2.5M Grant Sought For Abington-Jenkintown Connections Project

ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA —Abington Township Commissioners have unanimously approved a resolution for a $2.5 million state grant application for a pedestrian and stormwater improvements project.

At its Thursday meeting, Abington Commissioners adopted the resolution and also committed $100,065 in funds in its fiscal year 2025 budget for Phase 5 of the Abington-Jenkintown Connections Project.

The Abington-Jenkintown Connections project is a pedestrian and stormwater improvement project that seeks to improve connectivity and stormwater management along Washington Lane, Jenkintown Road, Greenwood Avenue, and Meetinghouse Road.

The Abington Township Board of Commissioners began the planning and application of grants related to the Abington-Jenkintown Connections project in August 2017.

The project is being completed in collaboration with Jenkintown Borough and will benefit all road users.

This project is being funded through multiple sources: the DCED Multi-modal Transportation Fund, DVRPC Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside Funds, PennDOT Green Light Go, Montgomery County Transportation Program Grant, and Abington Township Public Works and Engineering.
